About Me

Dr. Grimes is a highly experienced and licensed clinical psychologist who has been passionately serving individuals, couples, and families since 2006. With expertise in psychotherapy for adults, adolescents, and diverse family systems, Dr. Grimes brings a thoughtful, psychoanalytically-informed approach to his practice. He believes that by examining patterns in our relationships, we can unlock deeper insights into our inner experiences, leading to more fulfilling and meaningful connections.

Dr. Grimes earned both his master’s (2003) and doctoral degrees (2006) in clinical psychology from Texas A&M University. Following this, he completed a prestigious APA-accredited predoctoral internship at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship at Southwest Mental Health Center, where he worked with children and adolescents in both inpatient and outpatient settings.

After his formal training, Dr. Grimes spent valuable years at Clarity Child Guidance Center, working closely with children, families, and individuals to address complex mental health challenges. This experience deeply informed his understanding of the profound impact mental health struggles can have not only on individuals but also on those who love and care for them.

In 2008, Dr. Grimes expanded his reach by opening a part-time private practice, and in 2018, he transitioned to full-time private practice. He now offers both in-person and telehealth services, tailoring his care to meet the unique needs of each client.

Dr. Grimes is also dedicated to the development of future psychologists and psychiatrists. He serves as faculty at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center at San Antonio and the University of the Incarnate Word, where he supervises clinical work and teaches seminars on topics such as Psychoanalytic Theories, Developmental and Personality Theory, and Psychotherapy with Children and Adolescents.

As a respected leader in the field, Dr. Grimes is actively involved in several professional organizations. He holds memberships with the American Psychological Association's Division 39, the Bexar County Psychological Association, and the San Antonio Society for Psychoanalytic Studies, where he currently serves as President.
